Jesse's Samara Beach Surf School has successfully taught over
2,233 people of all ages to surf.
Jesse, his daughter Sunrise, and their team of instructors are seasoned professionals who have participated in surfing competitions, but are able to use Jesse's unique step-by-step method to share their skills with beginning surfers -- as well as intermediate and advanced surfers who are looking to hone their abilities.
The first step-by-step lesson covers surfing fundamentals like safely handling the board, sliding on, correct positioning on the board, pushing up and popping up onto the surfboard, and surfing in whitewater and on small, gentle waves.
We use special soft boards for early training to minimize any risk of injury and accelerate the learning process.
Almost all of our students are able to get up on the surfboard and surf in whitewater after just 1 lesson!
Then, we offer follow-up lessons that cover key aspects of surfing, like dropping in on unbroken waves and wave theory.
Each lesson includes one free hour of board rental, and students get a special rate on additional hours so that they can practice.
 We also offer student discounts on our special Samara Surf School lycra rashguards, which help prevent board rash and sunburn.

Jesse's is a family business, and a great support team. We keep our equipment in good shape and we use nose guards on all our hard
beginner surf boards, and we are concerned about safety at all times. Jesse is a former EMT and is very responsible in emergency situations.
They don't happen very often, but for the infrequent
occurence there is a fully staffed medical clinic here in Samara,
a bi-lingual private doctor, and a hospital in Nicoya,
accessible via a paved road.
